Chief Compliance Officer, Leidos
Jelahn Stewart is an accomplished ethics, compliance, and legal professional with extensive experience providing strategic leadership in ethics and compliance, as well as managing complex litigation and internal investigations. Currently, she serves as the Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer at Leidos, where she oversees the organization’s global ethics, compliance, and business integrity functions. In this capacity, Jelahn provides strategic legal guidance on emerging trends and compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to global compliance standards and fostering an ethical organizational culture through comprehensive training and awareness programs.
Prior to joining Leidos, Jelahn held significant positions at Walmart, where she served as Vice President and Special Counsel, Global Ethics Officer. In this role, she provided strategic leadership for ethics and compliance efforts across U.S. and international teams, developed enterprise-wide policies to mitigate risk, and presented ethics trends to the Audit Committee and executive leadership. Her career at Walmart included various roles where she focused on regulatory risk mitigation, compliance for eCommerce, and managing legal investigations.
Jelahn's impressive career began with the U.S. Department of Justice, where she dedicated nearly two decades to prosecuting high-profile cases and training criminal justice stakeholders worldwide. She served in various capacities, including Special Counsel to the U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Victim Witness Assistance Unit, transforming the unit into a highly regarded program. Her legal acumen extends to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, where she investigated claims related to pension plans, and she began her career as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Fairfax County Circuit Court.
Jelahn holds a Juris Doctor from American University, Washington College of Law, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts and Sciences from the University of Southern California. She has further enhanced her expertise through executive education at Harvard University’s Business School Online and Stanford University.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Jelahn is committed to academia, having served as an adjunct professor and visiting assistant professor in law schools, and she is an active speaker on legal and ethical issues, including a televised presentation on the right to counsel at the U.S. Supreme Court.
