Vice President, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, Northrop Grumman Corporation

Jay Cox is vice president and chief ethics and compliance officer for Northrop Grumman, a technology company focused on global security and human discovery. In this role, Cox leads the teams responsible for ensuring Northrop Grumman conducts business in accordance with its values and in compliance with legal requirements. He also chairs the company’s Corporate Compliance Council and serves on the Enterprise Risk Management Committee and Disclosure Committee.

Previously, Cox served as Northrop Grumman’s assistant general counsel and director for investigations and government disputes, overseeing the investigation of concerns raised within the organization; relationships with government investigative and enforcement agencies; and the litigation of bid protests, cost claims, and cost accounting matters.

Before joining Northrop Grumman, Cox held a series of senior positions at the U.S. Department of Justice, including as acting principal deputy associate attorney general and chief of staff for the Department’s Civil Division and Office of the Associate Attorney General. He previously co-directed the legal department at Clark Construction Group and practiced in the litigation and government contracts groups at a major U.S. law firm.

Cox graduated from Yale University and Harvard Law School. He serves on the executive committee of the Washington Urban Debate League’s Board of Directors and played a critical role in founding the Department of Justice’s Servicemembers and Veterans Initiative.
